Here’s a guide on how to identify the extra soldier:

Start by speaking to the town guard Beecher at the gate of Hyrule Castle. He has been assigned by General Wright to uncover the identity of the extra soldier posing as one of the castle guards.

Beecher seeks Princess Zelda’s assistance in the investigation. Begin by questioning the soldier next to Beecher about any suspicious activities. While they may not have any useful information, they will direct you further into town.

Interact with the guard near the fountain to make a breakthrough in the case. It is revealed that this guard replaced their old clothes and broken spear with a new set, indicating the availability of an extra guard uniform that could be used by an imposter. Princess Zelda expresses gratitude and proceeds to investigate the castle walls.

Upon reaching the battlements, the guards suggest checking with the quartermaster in the barracks, as they oversee the equipment.

While the other guards around town remain clueless, the information from the barracks leads to a significant revelation.

Inside the barracks near the well entrance, converse with the quartermaster who confirms that the imposter is wearing an outdated and damaged uniform.

When responding to Beecher, mention “the Echo took it.”
