Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Nintendo Switch 2 edition will make you fork out for DLC separately, but hey, it's not like you'll already have spent a lot on other Switch 2 stuff

After Nintendo unveiled its latest console, the prices for the Switch 2 itself, Mario Kart World, and the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour have all sparked discussions.

There has been some fan spamming of ‘DROP THE PRICE’ in Treehouse livestream chats and some indirect comments by Reggie Fils-Aimé about the Welcome Tour not being free. Interestingly, if you purchase the Switch 2 edition of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you will need to buy the DLC/expansion pass separately.

Nintendo has officially stated to IGN, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass DLC. That DLC is available as a separate purchase.”

Depending on your current ownership status of Breath of the Wild, if you already own the game and all its DLC on the original Switch and choose to purchase the $10 “upgrade pack” to the Switch 2 edition, you will not need to re-purchase the DLC.

However, for those who do not own the DLC and purchase the Switch 2 edition for $70, they will need to spend an additional $20 for the game’s expansion pass, totaling $90 for the game and DLC.

While not a significant decision on its own, when combined with other recent developments, it may seem like Nintendo is stumbling in terms of public relations.

If you are concerned about the financial impact of purchasing the game and DLC, share your thoughts below!
