YouTube reportedly launching new ‘premium lite’ tier soon

According to a report by Bloomberg, YouTube is on the verge of unveiling a new budget-friendly “premium lite” version of its subscription service. This new tier is set to debut in the United States, Australia, Germany, and Thailand in the near future.
The premium lite tier will grant users access to YouTube’s extensive collection of podcasts and instructional videos without any advertisements, as highlighted by Bloomberg. It is designed for viewers who primarily enjoy watching videos other than music videos.
The exact pricing for this tier remains unknown at this time. While the premium lite tier has undergone testing in select international markets, YouTube is now preparing for its official launch.
In contrast, YouTube Premium is priced at $13.99 per month in the U.S. and enables subscribers to enjoy ad-free content across the platform, including music videos.
YouTube’s introduction of this new tier comes amidst intensifying competition among various platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts, all vying to establish themselves as the preferred choice for podcast enthusiasts.
