Xiaomi Phones are About to Get a Big Free Upgrade
Xiaomi users are on the brink of receiving a powerful software upgrade for free, with a small catch.
The tech giant has unveiled HyperOS 2, a significant update to its operating system that includes performance, connectivity, and AI enhancements.
HyperOS 2 will first be available on the Xiaomi 15 series and upcoming devices, with existing phones and tablets receiving the update starting in November.
However, the rollout of this firmware update globally, including in the UK, is still unknown. Currently, it is limited to China, but when it does arrive, here’s what users can expect.
HyperOS 2 is Xiaomi’s latest iteration of its Android 15-based operating system, introducing three core innovations: HyperCore, HyperConnect, and HyperAI, to enhance speed, intelligence, and connectivity within Xiaomi’s ecosystem.
HyperCore features a custom scheduler that reduces CPU idle time by 19%, improving responsiveness and multitasking. Dynamic memory management and Storage 2.0 enhance app launch speed and maintain gaming performance during intense usage.
HyperConnect allows seamless cross-device interaction within Xiaomi’s ecosystem, enabling users to transfer apps and data between devices effortlessly.
HyperAI introduces AI-driven features like animated lock screens, real-time voice recognition, transcription during calls, and an AI-based summarization tool. It also includes features like converting sketches into detailed artwork and real-time bilingual translation.
HyperOS 2 even includes an AI-powered fraud detection system for identifying suspicious calls or videos.
HyperOS 2 will begin rolling out to Xiaomi’s flagship devices in November and is expected to be available on a broader range of devices by early 2025.
The initial update will cover devices like the Xiaomi 14 series, Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, Redmi K70 series/Xiaomi 14T series, and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4. By December, more devices like the Xiaomi 13 series, Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, Redmi K60/Xiaomi 13T series will receive the update, with additional models following in the first half of next year.
As of now, the update schedule is specific to devices in China, with no announcement yet for the international release of HyperOS 2 in regions like the UK and US.
