'Wicked' star Jonathan Bailey 'might co-parent' with a woman

Jonathan Bailey is setting his sights beyond his role in “Wicked.”

The 36-year-old actor expressed his desire to become a father once his busy schedule allows during an interview with British Vogue. Bailey, known for his role as Prince Fiyero in the hit film alongside Ariana Grande (Galinda) and Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba), shared his interest in expanding his family.

He mentioned that he has started preparing for the possibility of adopting a child and is open to the idea of co-parenting with either a man or a woman.

Although Bailey acknowledged the privilege of fatherhood for a man, he emphasized that his current hectic work schedule doesn’t allow him to bring children into his life at the moment.

The actor, known for his role as the heartthrob Lord Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” expressed his desire to ensure he can be fully present before starting a family.

Currently, Bailey mentioned that he is reading books on adoption and contemplating the idea of co-parenting with a man in the future.

He also opened up about his sexuality, sharing that he came out as gay to his family and close friends in his early twenties. Bailey reflected on a past relationship with a woman and the nuances of his experience with his sexuality.

Bailey also briefly touched on his dating life, discussing experiences of public displays of affection and the evolution of societal acceptance.

Regarding his current relationship status, Bailey chose not to disclose any details.

Bailey’s recent success includes his role in the musical prequel “Wicked,” which has been well-received since its release. He formed strong friendships on set, particularly with Grande, with whom he shared an immediate connection.
