Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández (D-NM), leader of the Democratic women’s caucus, told Time magazine that the pink attire is meant to “signal our protest of Trump’s policies which are negatively impacting women and families.”

In the past, they have coordinated their outfits, having worn white as a tribute to suffragists.

Not all individuals wearing pink are part of the Democratic women’s caucus. Some Republicans, like Rep. Mary Miller (R-Ill.), are also seen wearing pink.
