If you’ve found yourself with an abundance of tough mangoes and have received the Golden Fan as a reward in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you may be wondering what its purpose is.

Throughout the game, Princess Zelda obtains unique items from completing side quests, such as the Golden Fan, but the game doesn’t provide clear instructions on how to use them. These items are valuable and rare, but they can’t be sold, equipped, or used to enhance skills right away.

Where to use the Golden Fan in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

In Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the Golden Fan, like other unique reward items, is utilized by the character Dampe to create a new automaton for Princess Zelda.

These automatons are powerful tools for combat, defeating monsters in thrilling ways, but they require winding and regular maintenance.

Once you have completed the main storylines in the Gerudo Sanctum and Jabul Waters and returned to Hyrule Castle, you will encounter Dampe in Hyrule Field, north of Hyrule Ranch.

You can then visit Dampe in his workshop in Eastern Hyrule Field to begin crafting automatons. The first one is created by merging two Echoes, while subsequent automatons require unique items obtained from mini-games in Echoes of Wisdom.

Upon completing three side quests to build three more automatons, you will receive a final side quest where you can finally use the Golden Fan – even if it was the first unique item you discovered!
