When is the Next Samsung Event? Galaxy Unpacked 2025 Date Confirmed
Samsung unveiled several new products in the previous year. However, when is the upcoming Unpacked event and what can we expect to see launched?
In 2024, Samsung’s major releases included the flagship Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 foldable phones, as well as wearable devices like the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and Galaxy Ring.
Now, Samsung’s attention is turned towards the 2025 releases, particularly the Galaxy S25 series, which is anticipated to be unveiled at the first Unpacked event of the year.
Here’s a rundown of what we know about the event and the potential announcements:
When does Samsung typically host events?
Samsung is renowned for its high-profile Galaxy Unpacked events where new products are showcased. These events usually occur twice a year, featuring premium phones, tablets, and smartwatches.
Traditionally, Samsung holds Unpacked events at two main times during the year:
- January/February: Typically, the Galaxy S phones
- July/August: Typically, the Galaxy Z foldables, Galaxy Tab S tablets, and Galaxy Watch smartwatches
However, the unveiling of the Galaxy Tab S10 series in September 2024 broke away from this pattern, indicating that the schedule is not set in stone.
When is the next Samsung event scheduled?
Samsung has officially confirmed that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on 22 January 2025.
Watch the teaser video below:
What will Samsung reveal at the upcoming event?
Samsung has teased the announcements for its next Galaxy Unpacked event, hinting at the unveiling of up to four new phones.
Galaxy S25 series
The Galaxy S25 series is set to launch early in 2025, featuring the standard Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and the premium Galaxy S25 Ultra. These devices are expected to be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, offering enhanced performance and efficiency compared to the previous series.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to come with upgraded camera sensors and improvements in design and AI capabilities, particularly with Bixby.
The introduction of a rounder body design and Qi2 wireless charging is also anticipated, bringing Samsung closer to Apple’s charging ecosystem.
Galaxy S25 Slim
Samsung may also introduce the Galaxy S25 Slim, a thinner version of its flagship phone, potentially featuring a 200Mp main camera like the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Rumors suggest this device could launch alongside the S25 series or at a separate event later in the year.
Galaxy Z Flip FE
Reports have hinted at the possibility of more affordable Samsung foldables. While previous speculation focused on a Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, attention has now shifted to a Galaxy Z Flip FE, aimed at providing a budget-friendly alternative to the flagship flip phone.
Specific details about the Galaxy Z Flip FE are scarce, but it is rumored to debut in 2025, possibly later in the year rather than at the January event.
One UI 7
One definite feature of the Unpacked 2025 event will be the introduction of Samsung’s One UI 7 interface, launching alongside the Galaxy S25 series. This software update, built on Android 15, is anticipated to bring new features and enhancements.
A beta version of One UI 7 was released in December, offering advanced writing tools, support for call transcripts in multiple languages, and security upgrades.
The lock screen has also been updated with the ‘Now bar’ feature, providing live updates similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island feature.
Galaxy Ring 2
Samsung released its first smart ring in July 2024, making a sequel unlikely in the near future.
Rumors are circulating that the Galaxy Ring 2 may make an earlier appearance than anticipated. Samsung first introduced the Galaxy Ring during the Unpacked 2024 event, so there is a possibility that the company could use the upcoming Unpacked 2025 to give a sneak peek at an update, especially if it includes new health tracking features.
Speculation surrounding the Galaxy Ring 2 suggests a sleeker design, improved battery life, and additional capabilities that have yet to be revealed. This could make it a compelling addition to Samsung’s lineup whenever it is officially launched.
During Unpacked 2023, Qualcomm, Google, and Samsung announced a partnership to develop a mixed-reality platform, hinting at the possibility of hardware like a headset. Originally planned for release in 2024, the launch was pushed back to 2025. Now in 2025, Samsung’s mixed-reality ambitions are progressing following Google’s introduction of the Android XR platform, aimed at supporting new headsets and smart glasses.
Samsung has confirmed that its upcoming headset, known as Project Moohan, will be the first device to operate on Android XR and is scheduled to be released this year, potentially offering a preview at Galaxy Unpacked.
These are the highlights expected at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, promising some exciting flagship devices. For those who can’t wait, explore our selection of the best Samsung Galaxy phones, Android tablets, and smartwatches currently available.
