WhatsApp Beta Problems: What You Can Do

A recent update of WhatsApp was released on 25 February, upgrading the app to Beta version 2.25.5.8. While the update was intended to bring improvements, some users have encountered various issues post-installation.
For instance, some affected users have reported being unable to download or view images or videos in the chat. Others have faced difficulties in listening to voice messages, as highlighted by the Wabetainfo X account and several other users.
Following these complaints, Meta released a new update (version 2.25.5.16) to address the bug. However, this update has brought back other problems, preventing the sending of stickers, GIFs, or emojis. Wabetainfo also mentioned this in a tweet.
What should users do?
As mentioned earlier, the issues are primarily affecting the beta version of WhatsApp, especially on Android devices. Unfortunately, the only current solution is to avoid the two new updates or switch back to the stable version of WhatsApp. Google provides a guide on how to do this in their support article “Leaving the beta programme of an app.”
If reverting to the stable version is not an option, another workaround is to roll back WhatsApp to a previous version. Before doing so, ensure to back up your chats and contacts, uninstall WhatsApp, and then download an earlier version from a trusted source like APK Mirror.
Alternatively, users can wait for another update from Meta, which hopefully will be released in the coming hours. It is reassuring that developers are aware of the issues and have been prompt in delivering bug fixes for the initial update.
