Welcome to Chat Haus, the coworking space for AI chatbots

Chat Haus, AI, artificial intelligence

Situated between an elementary school and a public library in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn is a unique “luxury” coworking space known as Chat Haus.

Chat Haus resembles a traditional coworking office with people working on their computers, taking phone calls, and enjoying coffee breaks. However, the significant difference is that Chat Haus is specifically designed for AI chatbots, with everything, including the occupants, made out of cardboard.

Created by Brooklyn artist Nim Ben-Reuven, Chat Haus is an art exhibit featuring cardboard robots controlled by small motors. The exhibit humorously reflects Ben-Reuven’s frustration with the increasing use of AI in his industry, leading to a decline in freelance opportunities.

Despite the impact of AI on his profession, Ben-Reuven maintains a lighthearted approach with Chat Haus, aiming to engage viewers of all ages and perspectives on AI.

Using cardboard in his art is not new to Ben-Reuven, as he has previously created cardboard replicas and robots. The impermanence of cardboard in his art reflects his views on the fragility of AI’s influence in creative industries.

Ben-Reuven’s Chat Haus, currently displayed at 121 Norman Avenue in Brooklyn, serves as a temporary exhibit awaiting building permits for renovation. The artist plans to expand the exhibit and potentially move it to a larger gallery.
