Warriors' Jimmy Butler exits Game 2 with pelvis contusion

Jimmy Butler suffered an early exit during Game 2 against the Rockets on Wednesday night.

The Warriors star took a hard fall in the first quarter while going for a rebound, resulting in a violent collision with the court and visible pain for Butler.

Golden State later announced that Butler was out for the rest of the game due to a pelvis contusion, although the severity of the injury remains uncertain.

The injury occurred when Butler was undercut by Houston’s Amen Thompson under the basket with 2:28 left in the first quarter.

Thompson, attempting to navigate past another Warriors player, fell forward, tripping Butler’s legs in the process, causing him to crash to the ground and land hard on his rear end.

The impact of the fall was so intense that a loud thud reverberated when Butler hit the floor.

Despite attempting to continue playing, Butler realized he couldn’t move as he wanted to and subsequently left for the team’s locker room.

Reportedly, Butler walked cautiously from the X-ray room back to the Golden State locker room accompanied by his agent, Bernie Lee, and his trainer, Armando Rivas. General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. was also seen checking on Butler.

Butler only played eight minutes before the injury, scoring three points on 1-of-2 shooting from the floor.

At the time of the injury, the Rockets were leading the Warriors 22-15.

Not only Butler, but guard Brandin Podziemski also had to leave the game in the first quarter due to a stomach ailment.

Podziemski was considered questionable to return, with Golden State coach Steve Kerr mentioning that he was dealing with a stomach issue from something he had eaten.
