Wanda Sykes Shocks Jenna Bush Hager With Her Hilarious Reaction To Being Asked To Host The Oscars Again: “Ask Will Smith If He Would Ever Slap Somebody Again… Maybe”

Wanda Sykes was candid during her recent appearance on Today With Jenna & Friends, where she joined Jenna Bush Hager and Regina Hall to discuss their experience hosting the 2022 Oscars together.
When Bush Hager asked Sykes if she would host the Oscars again, Sykes responded with some hesitation. “Um, you know they say never say never. I don’t know, I guess you would ask Will Smith if he would ever slap somebody again… Yeah, maybe.”
Sykes referenced Smith’s infamous incident at the Oscars where he slapped Chris Rock while she, Hall, and Schumer were hosting. Despite the seriousness of the incident, Sykes made a joke that elicited laughter from Bush Hager and Hall.
When Bush Hager asked for a definitive answer, Sykes remained unsure, stating, “I don’t know.”
While Sykes seemed hesitant, Hall expressed positive feelings about their Oscars hosting experience, mentioning the fun they had during the event.
Sykes openly criticized Smith for his actions at the Oscars and expressed her emotional response during a stand-up performance in Orlando after the ceremony.
Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
