V Rising's first big post 1.0 update brings a bevy of additions, combat reworks, and Steam Deck support later this month

It’s almost been a year since V Rising was released, and in anticipation of this milestone, developer Stunlock Studios unveiled a trailer for the game’s upcoming major update, Invaders of Oakveil. The update will be free and will introduce a new area to explore – Oakveil Woodlands, a forested region where “corruption” is spreading.

The main antagonist of this update is Megara the Serpent Queen, believed to be the source of the corruption. She commands minions known as The Venomblades, which could easily pass as the name of a goth rollerblading group. In terms of gameplay enhancements, players can expect a new arena-building feature in their castle, one-on-one duels in the wilderness with no consequences, three new weapon types (claws, twinblades, throwing daggers), and seven new spells.

Combat mechanics are receiving a significant overhaul, with stat adjustments, gear balance changes, and the introduction of “new customization tools.” Blood types have been revamped, passive spells are now more impactful, and unlocking spell points provides passive bonuses. Numerous changes are on the horizon!

Crafting will also be more convenient, allowing players to access ingredients from their vault without physically visiting it. Additionally, stables will be available for horse storage, and players can populate their prisons with creatures for blood extraction purposes.

In addition to other updates detailed on the game’s official website, V Rising will officially support Steam Deck. All of these exciting changes will be implemented on April 28th, so mark your calendars and get ready to dive into the new content.
