Ukraine special forces take out Russian platoon, weapons caches
Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces (SSO) successfully eliminated a Russian platoon and weapons storage facilities along the frontlines, as shown in intense new video footage.
The video, uploaded to Facebook on Wednesday, captures an SSO drone and armored vehicle battalion cornering and taking out Russian soldiers in combat in an industrial complex in the Donetsk region.
In the footage, a Russian soldier can be seen moving near the entrance of a building, only to be immediately spotted and targeted by an explosives-laden Ukrainian drone, resulting in a powerful explosion.
Following the drone strikes, the SSO officers deployed additional drones to hunt down the Russian troops hiding in buildings and trailers, leading to more explosions.
Subsequently, the SSO’s 3rd Regiment arrived in armored Humvees and cleared out the area by firing their guns into the buildings.
Although the exact number of Russian troops eliminated was not disclosed, one soldier surrendered to the SSO regiment after surviving the assault and provided valuable information about Russian weapons and ammunition depots in the area.
The SSO regiment promptly destroyed the identified weapons depots based on the information provided by the surrendered soldier.
Donetsk continues to witness intense battles as Russia attempts to gain ground in the region, with Ukraine’s military commander in chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stating that Ukrainian troops have successfully held back Russian advances in recently liberated cities.
Syrskyi emphasized the heavy losses suffered by Russia in Donetsk and reassured his troops that they are effectively defending against the invasion while peace talks aim to end the conflict.
