Turok: Origins has been announced during The Game Awards, bringing back the classic dinosaur hunter with a twist. Saber Interactive is reviving the IP with a three-player co-op mode, set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Turok: Origins is described as a fast-paced, third-person, sci-fi shooter with solo and cooperative gameplay for up to three players. The game seems to follow Saber’s successful template used in titles like World War Z and Space Marine 2.

The gameplay footage in the trailer hints at a focus on smaller groups of dinosaurs rather than massive hordes. Players will use weapons and abilities to take down dinosaurs and upgrade their arsenal by absorbing their DNA. The game will feature a variety of weapons such as plasma rifles, ray guns, snipers, bows, and shotguns.

Matthew Karch, CEO and co-founder of Saber Interactive, expressed his excitement about bringing back the beloved Turok franchise. He emphasized the company’s passion for revitalizing classic IPs with modern gameplay elements.

Turok first gained popularity with the trilogy of N64 games, including Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion. Despite some unsuccessful attempts in the early 2000s, the N64 games remain iconic in the minds of gamers, thanks to Nightdive Studios’ re-releases in recent years.
