U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday (January 7, 2025) issued a warning stating that if Hamas did not release hostages before January 20, when he assumes office as the 47th President of the United States, “all hell will break out.”

Speaking at a news conference in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Mr. Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation, indicating the potential consequences if the hostages were not released on time.

In response to a question regarding the progress of negotiations with Hamas, Special Envoy Steven Charles Witkoff, fresh from a mission in the region, expressed optimism about the situation, mentioning that they are close to a resolution.

Mr. Witkoff commended the President for his unwavering stance and emphasized the importance of Mr. Trump’s influence in driving the negotiations forward.

He further added, “I’m leaving tomorrow to go back to Doha. But I think that we’ve had some really great progress and I’m really hopeful that by the inauguration we’ll have some good things to announce on behalf of the president.”

The President, echoing the sentiments of his envoy, reiterated the deadline for the release of the hostages by Hamas, warning of severe repercussions if the demands were not met.

Mr. Trump recounted heartbreaking stories of families affected by the hostage situation, underscoring the urgency of the matter and the need for immediate resolution.

As the deadline approaches, Mr. Trump emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “If the deal isn’t done before I take office, which is now going to be two weeks, all hell will break out in the Middle East.”
