Trump picks billionaire Landry's chairman Tilman Fertitta as Italy ambassador

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday (December 21, 2024) his intention to nominate billionaire Tilman Fertitta, owner of the Houston Rockets pro basketball team, as the ambassador to Italy in his administration.

Mr. Fertitta, who is the chairman and owner of Landry’s, a company with a diverse portfolio of restaurants, hotels, and casinos across the United States, has been chosen for this important diplomatic role.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Mr. Trump praised Mr. Fertitta as a successful businessman and philanthropist, highlighting his contributions to society.
