Trump ends legal battle over Twitter ban

The legal battle between former President Donald Trump and the social media platform formerly known as Twitter has come to an end.
Trump initially sued Twitter for banning him following the events of January 6, 2021, when his supporters breached the U.S. Capitol. Despite a federal judge dismissing the lawsuit in 2022, Trump’s legal team pursued appeals.
Following the judge’s decision, Elon Musk, a prominent Trump supporter, acquired Twitter, now rebranded as X, and reinstated Trump’s account. Subsequently, Facebook and other platforms also reinstated Trump, although he primarily uses Truth Social, owned by Trump Media & Technology Group, for social media posting.
A court filing reveals that all parties involved have requested the case be dismissed. The specifics of the agreement between Trump and X remain undisclosed, with each side responsible for their own costs.
In a separate settlement in January, Meta agreed to pay $25 million to resolve a similar lawsuit concerning Trump’s ban from Instagram and Facebook.
