Towers of Aghasba looks like Monster Hunter with less monster hunting, more gliding and more village building

Dreamlit developers have released new footage of their open-world game, Towers Of Aghasba. The game features equatorial landscapes, prehistoric wildlife, and various activities such as exploration, village-building, gardening, creature-nurturing, and battling megasloths. The release date is set for November 19, 2024.

The game follows the story of a junior architect from the Shimu tribe on a mission to restore a landscape affected by the Withered. Players will interact with local gods, rebuild villages, plant trees, and attract fantasy animals. Players can choose to hunt these animals for resources or nurture them for long-term benefits. The game also offers areas controlled by the Withered for those who prefer a different gameplay experience.

Combat in Towers Of Aghasba involves real-time action with combos, archery, and dodge-rolling. Players can craft weapons, armor, and elixirs, and can also enjoy co-op support. Additionally, a hang-glider similar to the one in Zelda is available for exploration.

The game showcases lush vegetation, diverse wildlife, and emphasizes understanding animal behaviors, similar to Subnautica. However, some elements of the game’s Tribal Themes feel like a caricature of indigenous cultures. The building system, based on holographic templates, allows for user-friendly construction but may clash with the organic environment.
