1. The Shawshank Redemption – Red
Parole Hearing Man: Ellis Boyd Redding, your files say you’ve served 40 years of a life sentence. Do you feel you’ve been rehabilitated?
Red: Rehabilitated? Well, now let me see. You know, I don’t have any idea what that means.
Parole Hearing Man: Well, it means that you’re ready to rejoin society…
Red: I know what you think it means, sonny. To me, it’s just a made-up word. A politician’s word, so young fellas like yourself can wear a suit and a tie and have a job. What do you really want to know? Am I sorry for what I did?
Parole Hearing Man: Well, are you?
Red: There’s not a day that goes by I don’t feel regret. Not because I’m in here, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then: a young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him.
I want to try and talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are. But I can’t. That kid’s long gone and this old man is all that’s left. I got to live with that. Rehabilitated? It’s just a bull**** word.
So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don’t give a s***.

“I’m sure many of you have been hearing rumors lately, about me, about the future of this firm, and that’s what I’d like to talk to you about today. Five years ago when I started Stratton with Donnie Azoff, I knew the day would eventually come when I’d be moving on. It’s truly with a heavy heart that I tell you that day is here.
Thank you for that and for your years of incredible loyalty and admiration. The point is though, that under Donnie’s leadership, along with Robbie Feinberg and Nicky Koskoff moving into key management positions, this place is gonna be better than ever!
And the fact that I’m gone won’t stop me from giving Donnie advice, not that he needs any…
Before I go, there’s something I want to remind you all, and that’s this – Stratton Oakmont is bigger than any one person, even me. Especially me. You guys are Stratton, each and every one of you, and that is why it’s sure to remain the best brokerage firm in the world!
See, the very idea of Stratton is that when you come here and step into this bullpen for the first time, you start your life anew. You have a place here and no one can take that away from you! Stratton Oakmont is America! Give me your tired and poor!
The very moment you walk through that door and pledge your loyalty to this firm, you become part of a family, you become a Strattonite! It doesn’t matter who you are, it doesn’t matter where you’re from!
Whether your family came over on the Mayflower or on a inner tube from Haiti!
Everybody here knows Kimmie Belzer, right?
In case any of you weren’t aware of it, Kimmie was one of Stratton’s first brokers, one of the original twenty. Now when most of you met Kimmie, you met her the way she is today – a beautiful woman who drives a brand new Mercedes, a woman who lives in the finest condo complex on Long Island.
A woman who wears $3000 Armani suits, who spends her winters in the Bahamas and her summers in the Hamptons!
But that’s not the Kimmie I met. The Kimmie I met was broke, a single mom on the balls of her a**. Three months behind on her rent with an eight-year-old son! She came to me for a job and when I hired her she asked for a $5000 dollar advance so she could pay his tuition. And what did I do, Kimmie?
Kimmie: You wrote me a check for $25,000!
Because I believed in you as I believe in each and every one of you!
Kimmie: I love you, Jordan!
You know for years I’ve been telling you guys not to take no for an answer, to keep pushing, to not hang up the phone till you get what you want. This deal I’m about to sign, barring me from the securities industry, barring me from Stratton, my home…
What the f*** is that? I’ll tell you what it is, it’s me being a hypocrite. It’s me taking no for an answer, it’s them selling me, not the other way around! F*** it, I’m not leaving!
THE SHOW GOES ON!!
3. Any Given Sunday – Al Pacino
“I don’t know what to say, really. Three minutes till the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today. Now either we heal as a team or we’re gonna crumble, inch by inch, play by play, ’til we’re finished.
We’re in hell right now, gentlemen, believe me. And, we can stay here – get the shit kicked out of us – or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell one inch at a time.
Now, I can’t do it for you. I’m too old. I look around. I see these young faces, and I think – I mean – I made every wrong choice a middle-aged man can make. I, uh, I pissed away all my money, believe it or not. I chased off anyone who’s ever loved me. And lately, I can’t even stand the face I see in the mirror.
You know, when you get old in life things get taken from you. I mean that’s…part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff.
Life is a game of inches, just like football. The margin for error is so small that one-half a step too late or too early can make all the difference. Every break, every minute, and every second in the game matter. On our team, we fight for every inch and are willing to sacrifice everything for it because we know those inches will determine the outcome between winning and losing, between living and dying.
In any fight, it’s the person who is willing to give it their all who will come out on top. We must be willing to fight for every inch in front of us because that’s what living truly is. Look at the person next to you – they are willing to go that inch with you, to sacrifice themselves for the team because they know you would do the same for them. That’s what makes a team.
We must heal as a team or die as individuals. That’s football, that’s life. So what are you going to do?
Life is tough and will knock you down, but it’s not about how hard you get hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. You must believe in yourself and be willing to take the hits without blaming others. You are better than that. Until you start believing in yourself, you won’t truly have a life.
We must remember that we are all human beings who want to help each other and live in happiness, not hatred. Greed has caused us to lose our way, but we must remember to be kind and gentle towards one another. Humanity and kindness are what we truly need to make the world a better place. The power will always return to the people, and as long as there are people willing to fight for liberty, it will never perish.
Soldiers! Do not surrender to oppressors – men who belittle you, control you, dictate your actions, thoughts, and emotions. They treat you like mere objects, using you as pawns in their schemes.
Do not submit to these heartless individuals – robotic beings with mechanical minds and hearts. You are not machines, you are not livestock, you are human beings! You possess compassion and kindness in your souls. You do not harbor hatred.
Only those who lack love are filled with hate – those who are unloved and devoid of humanity! Soldiers! Do not fight for bondage! Fight for freedom!
As written in the 17th Chapter of St Luke, “the Kingdom of God is within man” – not in a single individual or a select group, but in all individuals! It resides within you! You, the people, hold the power – the power to innovate, to bring joy. You have the ability to create a life that is free and beautiful, to embrace a thrilling journey.
Therefore, in the spirit of democracy, let us harness that power – let us unite. Let us strive for a new world – a world of decency that provides opportunities for labor, a future for the youth, and security for the elderly.
Despite the promises made by tyrants who have ascended to power, they deceive us! They do not fulfill their pledges. They never will!
Dictators may liberate themselves, but they enslave the populace! Let us now fight to uphold those promises! Let us fight to liberate the world – to eliminate national boundaries, eradicate greed, hatred, and intolerance.
Let us stand up for a rational world, a world where scientific advancements and progress lead to the happiness of all individuals. Soldiers! In the name of democracy, let us stand united!
