Tomas Martin Etcheverry pukes during US Open match in sweltering heat

U.S. Open Player Tomas Martin Etcheverry Advances Despite Puking on Court

After more than four hours of intense play in the scorching heat, Tomas Martin Etcheverry managed to secure a victory at the U.S. Open on Wednesday, even though he vomited on the court during the fifth set.

The Argentine player defeated Francisco Cerundolo with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 on Court 17, advancing to the third round at Flushing Meadows for the first time.

Despite the temperatures exceeding 90 degrees, the 25-year-old Etcheverry experienced a moment of weakness behind the baseline while leading 4-1 in the deciding set.

Despite the incident, Etcheverry quickly recovered and managed to close out the match, setting up a third-round encounter with No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev, who also secured a victory in straight sets over Alexandre Muller.

Etcheverry had previously reached the third round at both the Australian Open and the French Open earlier in the year, showcasing his talent and determination on the court.
