Today is the last chance to add MultiVersus before it disappears

MultiVersus, the free-to-play fighter that featured characters from a wide range of franchises, is closing down for good. Today is the last chance to add it to your library before it is delisted on May 30. However, the game can still be played offline and redownloaded after that date by logging into the game on your preferred platform between February 4 and May 30.

The game has faced challenges throughout its lifespan. Initially launched in beta in July 2022 until June 2023, it was taken offline for almost a year for a complete rebuild. Re-released in May 2024 in Unreal Engine 5, there were improvements, but it was not enough to sustain the game.

The decision to shut down the game was not unexpected. In November 2024, Warner Bros. announced that MultiVersus had not met expectations in terms of performance, but they had planned to continue working on it.

As of today, players can no longer make purchases with premium currency or engage in real-money transactions within the game. Existing premium currency (Gleamium) can still be used until the end of Season 5 on May 30. The development team expressed gratitude to the community for their support in a statement.

“Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

Fans can still download and play MultiVersus after the shutdown, but only in local multiplayer mode. It can still be a great party game, so be sure to claim your copy before it is removed from online stores completely.
