This $45 Headstrap Makes Apple's $3,500 Vision Pro Headset Much Better

Vision Pro is an exceptional headset in many aspects, but its comfort is a weak point, especially considering its high price. Apple’s focus on aesthetics has resulted in a headset that is visually striking but lacks comfort for prolonged use. Fortunately, addressing this issue is relatively straightforward.

Many criticisms of Vision Pro’s comfort stem from the headset’s weight, being made of metal. However, in comparison to other contemporary headsets, Vision Pro’s weight is not significantly heavier. For example, Quest 3’s display housing weighs 394g, only 81g less than Vision Pro’s 475g display housing.

While weight is a significant factor in comfort, the way the headstrap distributes the weight is equally important.

Even Quest 3’s default soft strap is not particularly comfortable. Meta acknowledges this by offering an aftermarket ‘Elite Strap’ that increases the weight to 642g, surpassing Vision Pro’s weight of 625g with its default strap and facepad.

Interestingly, adding weight with Meta’s Elite Strap actually enhances the headset’s comfort.

Similar to Quest 3’s default strap, Vision Pro’s default ‘Solo Knit Band’ headstrap is also lacking in comfort.

Recognizing this, Apple includes a ‘Dual Loop Band’ headstrap with every Vision Pro, featuring a top strap for improved weight distribution, although it still falls short in comfort.

While the default Knit Band is commendable for its softness and adjustability, it lacks the top strap found in the Dual Loop Band. Third-party strap options offer a solution to this dilemma at a more affordable price point.

After testing various third-party straps for Vision Pro, the ANNAPRO A2 strap stands out by combining with the Knit Band, allowing for comfortable use without the facepad, reducing weight, and improving the field-of-view.
