The Witcher 4 revealed with Ciri as the protagonist

CD Projekt Red has officially announced The Witcher 4 through the release of its first trailer, which features Ciri as the main character.

The visually stunning story trailer showcases a girl who is being prepared for sacrifice to protect the village from evil forces. However, a Witcher arrives to combat the evil on their behalf, and that Witcher is none other than Ciri!

“The Witcher IV is a single-player, open-world RPG developed by CD PROJEKT RED. In this new chapter, players assume the role of Ciri, a skilled monster hunter, as they journey through a dark and unforgiving fantasy realm. Utilizing Unreal Engine 5, the game aims to deliver the most immersive and ambitious open-world Witcher experience to date.”

The release of The Witcher 4 is still several years away, as CDPR recently announced that the game has entered full production.

This trailer also serves as a demonstration of CDPR’s goals with the new game engine. The shift from their own proprietary engine to Unreal Engine 5 will have a significant impact on the development process, as developers and artists incorporate features like Nanite textures and Lumen global illumination into the game.
