The Witcher 4 has entered “the most intensive phase of development”, say CD Projekt

If you thought you had exhausted all the RPGs – maxed out every stat, defeated every creature, completed every questline – CD Projekt has just announced that The Witcher 4 is now in “full-scale production”.
“I’m pleased to announce that several weeks ago it moved on to full-scale production,” chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz revealed about the game, codenamed Polaris, during the company’s latest quarterly earnings presentation to investors. “Of all our projects, this one is currently the most far along, and we’re starting the most intensive phase of development.”
Game director Sebastian Kalemba also shared his excitement on social media. “No stopping now!” he exclaimed. “Stay tuned for what’s on the other side of the coin!” The post includes a photo of a coin with engraved rays of light above a cliffside and some runes. Perhaps the other side of the coin will reveal a Witcher image or the words “Witcher 4”.
The upcoming Witcher game may not necessarily be titled The Witcher 4. Video game publishers are cautious about sequential titles, so it might have a different name to attract a wider audience. The new game will be the first in a new trilogy of Witcher games and CD Projekt is also working on a Witcher 1 Remake, Project Sirius, and Project Orion.
With over 400 CD Projekt staff working on Polaris as of March, the game is progressing towards completion. “Full-scale production” means that the development phase is focused on creating character models, environments, and combat systems. It is likely that CD Projekt will officially announce the game with videos and images next year.
