If you’re still reeling from Osgood Perkins’ chilling Longlegs, then his latest horror film, The Monkey, is sure to captivate you. Based on Stephen King’s short story of the same name, the film follows twin brothers, both portrayed by Theo James, as they desperately try to rid themselves of a cymbal-banging monkey toy their father purchased years ago. Every time the monkey plays its tune, a person from the twins’ circle meets a grisly demise.

How to watch The Monkey now

Osgood Perkins’ latest horror is currently only available in cinemas. UK viewers can purchase tickets through Odeon or Cineworld websites, while US viewers can book seats via AMC Theatres, Fandango, and Atom Tickets.

When could The Monkey be available on VOD?

Neon, the studio distributing Osgood Perkins’ horror in the US, has yet to announce the film’s availability for purchase or rental. However, we can estimate based on the studio’s past releases.

Historically, Neon’s films have arrived on VOD within 25 to 90 days after their theatrical debut. Considering The Monkey’s early success, we predict it will be available on digital platforms on Friday, 4 April 2025 – 42 days after its cinematic release, in line with the pattern set by Longlegs.

In the UK, The Monkey is distributed by Black Bear, and we anticipate a similar release timeframe as in the US.

When could The Monkey be available on DVD/Blu-ray?

Neon typically releases physical copies of its films after their VOD debut. The Monkey is likely to follow this pattern, with DVD and Blu-ray copies hitting US stores between 6 May and 30 May 2025, based on previous release schedules.

In the UK, we expect The Monkey to be available on DVD and Blu-ray in late May/early June 2025, following the pattern of previous Neon releases.

When could The Monkey be available to stream?

In the US, Neon’s films typically stream on Hulu. Depending on the film’s box office performance, we could see The Monkey on Hulu around July 2025, following the DVD and Blu-ray release. However, if the film is a major success, the streaming premiere may happen sooner.

In the UK, The Monkey is likely to stream on Prime Video 3-4 months after the physical release, in the fall of 2025.
