The Electric State game

The Electric State, an American science fiction adventure comedy-drama film, is set to launch this month alongside a newly-revealed prequel game.

The new sci-fi epic by the Russo Brothers will premiere exclusively via Netflix on March 14th and is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Simon Stålenhag. The newly revealed video game adaptation will also be free to Netflix subscribers.

The report (via Variety) reveals a mobile game based on the world of The Electric State will be releasing a few days after the film’s release, on March 18th.

Rather than an adaptation of the events of the film, though, The Electric State game will be a prequel that will cover five years prior to the start of the film.

Players will play for children Michelle and Chris in this adventure that is described as “blending gameplay with emotional storytelling to create an immersive experience.”

The new The Electric State game will release only for Android and iOS and will be free to play as long as you are subscribed and logged into your Netflix account.

This is similar to a strategy Netflix has followed with other franchises of theirs, such as Stranger Things, which received an exclusive mobile game after the release of season one – as well as Stranger Things 3 the Game, though that one is also available on consoles and is not free.
