The cyberpunk FPS from former Metro devs launches this very month, with a closed Steam beta on the way

Reburn’s upcoming futuristic shooter La Quimera now has an official release date of April 25th, 2025. This is quite soon for a first-person shooter that was first announced in February, but the game has been in development since around 2020.

If you’re not familiar, Reburn is the rebranded version of the Metro studio 4A Games Ukraine. They should not be confused with 4A Games in Malta, who are still working on the Metro series. La Quimera has a different aesthetic compared to Metro, with gameplay reminiscent of titles like Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Cyberpunk 2077. The trailer showcases exosuit combat and high-tech weaponry, further solidifying its unique identity.

La Quimera is set in the fictional Latin American mega-city of Nuevo Caracas. Players take on the roles of members of a PMC group, embroiled in a conflict between rival factions and shadowy corporations. The game blurs the line between reality and illusion, introducing mystical elements reminiscent of Black Ops 3.

Equipped with a high-tech mecha-onesie and an arsenal of futuristic weapons, players navigate through a world crafted by Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. The game also features writing from Refn, adding a unique narrative touch to the gameplay experience.

Despite the challenges faced in Ukraine, Reburn remains committed to delivering their artistic vision. CEO Dmytro Lymar acknowledges the difficulties of developing games in a war-torn region, emphasizing the studio’s resilience and determination.

For those eager to experience La Quimera firsthand, a closed 24-hour Steam beta will be available starting on April 12th. The beta will support co-op gameplay, offering a sneak peek into the game’s immersive world. Visit Steam for more information.
