The best games that bricked consoles

If you were fortunate enough to have experienced the 7th console generation as a young adult with enough disposable income to buy a couple of games per month, you were living the good life. You probably have countless fond memories of each big new game that the studios were releasing regularly, and you didn’t have to worry about “games as a service.” Ah, the good old days.
However, the unreliability of the consoles was not so blissful. The Xbox 360 was plagued by the Red Ring of Death issue, a costly tech design and consumer rights debacle for Microsoft. The PS3 also had its share of problems with the Yellow Light of Death, which although not as widespread as Microsoft’s issue, still affected many users. If you still have a working PS3 Fat, make sure to clean it regularly and change the thermal paste to prolong its lifespan.
Every generation of gaming consoles has faced tech issues, often related to excessive heat from demanding games. So, which game was the best at pushing these consoles to their limits? That’s what we aim to find out in this panel show, hosted by Jim Trinca, with regular panellists Tom Orry and Sherif Saed, and special guest Ian Higton from Eurogamer.
