Tesla has announced the rollout of its updated Model Y in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, scheduled for March.

The latest update to the Model Y introduces a new Cybertruck-inspired full-width LED light bar at the front and rear, along with a more aerodynamic bumper. The electric vehicle is slightly longer than its predecessor, while maintaining the same width and height.
Initially, the new Model Y is available in two variants — Long Range AWD and Standard Range RWD. The Long Range AWD model can accelerate to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds and offers a range of up to 447 miles, while the Standard Range RWD achieves 62 mph in 5.9 seconds with a range of up to 368 miles. Improved aerodynamics and low rolling resistance tires contribute to the enhanced range of the new Model Y.

Addressing previous feedback, Tesla has included a new suspension, hubs, and tires to enhance the driving experience. The interior of the Model Y now features ambient lighting, premium materials, ventilated front-row seats, power-folding second-row seats, an eight-inch touchscreen in the rear, and discreet speakers for a minimalist look, according to Tesla.
Additionally, the new Model Y offers improved connectivity for Phone Key, clearer calls, and faster cellular and WiFi connections.
Tesla is optimistic that the updated Model Y will boost the company’s market standing, with its increased efficiency, range, and fresh design distinguishing it from its predecessor. Following a modest 2.3% rise in global sales in the fourth quarter of 2024, Tesla faced challenges from a sluggish first half of the year, resulting in lower sales compared to 2023.
Tesla’s Model Y announcement for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico comes shortly after confirming the availability of the revamped vehicle in China and other Asian markets in March.
