Ten MCU Superheroes Missing From The Avengers: Doomsday Cast

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is embarking on its sixth phase, with Avengers: Doomsday being a key film in this new chapter. Marvel recently announced the star-studded cast for the blockbuster during a nearly five-and-a-half-hour livestream, revealing some unexpected surprises.
The upcoming film will include a lineup of familiar faces like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) alongside new additions such as Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova). Mutants like Patrick Stewart (Prof. X) and Ian McKellen (Magneto) will also make their debut in the MCU, as well as The Fantastic Four played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
Notably, Robert Downey Jr. will take on the role of the new supervillain, Dr. Doom, in the film, marking his return to the franchise after portraying Iron Man in previous installments.
With Avengers: Doomsday set to be the fifth installment in the Avengers series following the epic Avengers: Endgame, Marvel aims to strike a balance between fan-favorite elements and fresh new additions to the cast. The movie promises to be a mix of MCU veterans and rising stars, setting the stage for an exciting new chapter in the superhero saga.
Despite the star-studded lineup, there are some notable absences from the previous Avengers roster, leaving fans wondering about the fate of certain beloved characters. Mark Ruffalo as Hulk
Last seen in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
Status: Alive
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr. Bruce Banner has been experimenting with controlling his transformations and merging his two personalities. He introduced his son Skaar in the She-Hulk series, hinting at a potential storyline involving his family. However, it seems that Hulk won’t be making an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, possibly due to his focus on personal matters.
Tom Holland as Spider-Man
Last seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home
Status: Alive
Peter Parker’s recent adventures in the multiverse have left fans wondering about his absence in Avengers: Doomsday. With a new Spider-Man suit and a return to his vigilante activities, Peter’s storyline may be further explored in the upcoming Spider-Man 4 movie.
Brie Larson as Captain Marvel
Last seen in The Marvels
Status: Alive
Despite her powerful presence on Earth, Captain Marvel’s absence in the cast of Avengers: Doomsday raises questions about her whereabouts. The aftermath of The Marvels may have influenced this decision, as Marvel Studios may be keeping Carol Danvers out of the spotlight for now.
Chris Evans as Captain America
Last seen in Avengers: Endgame
Status: Alive
Steve Rogers’ retirement and passing on the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson marked the end of his journey in the MCU. While there were rumors of his return in Avengers: Doomsday, details remain unclear about his potential involvement in the film.
The latest teaser for the film hints that Chris Evans is not part of the cast, suggesting that Marvel will not bring Steve out of retirement.
Elizabeth Olsen last appeared as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she met her demise. After using dark magic to reunite with her children, she caused chaos in the multiverse and battled with Doctor Strange. Although she is currently deceased, the multiverse leaves room for potential resurrection.
Benedict Cumberbatch, as Doctor Strange, was last seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Scarlet Witch’s actions greatly impacted him, leading him to possess his counterpart in another reality using the Darkhold. His absence in Avengers: Secret Wars may be explained in his next film.
Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame, and her standalone film, Black Widow, was a prequel that did not alter her fate. Like Scarlet Witch, Black Widow is currently deceased, but the multiverse could offer possibilities for her return.
Don Cheadle’s War Machine was last seen in Secret Invasion, where he was rescued from Skrull captivity. His whereabouts after the events of Secret Invasion and absence in Avengers: Doomsday are unknown, but he is set to appear in the upcoming MCU series, Armor Wars.
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, after surviving the war with Thanos, chose to focus on family life. In the Hawkeye miniseries, he confronted his past with the help of Kate Bishop and ultimately returned to his family, opting to stay out of the fight with Dr. Doom.
Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, although not a superhero, has played a significant role in the MCU. After overseeing superheroes and Earth’s security became overwhelming, he settled on the space station S.A.B.E.R. His absence in Avengers: Doomsday is explained by his decision to remain on the station during the conflict with Dr. Doom. Please rewrite the following sentence:
