T-Mobile is expanding its home internet offerings with a new Home Internet Backup plan that serves as a reliable backup option in case of outages. The plan starts at $30 per month and is designed to complement existing cable or fiber internet connections.

The plan includes a gateway router that connects to T-Mobile’s cellular data network and offers up to 130GB of 5G data per month. This amount of data is sufficient to keep a typical household connected via Wi-Fi for up to seven days. It can also be set up as an automatic fallback option when the primary internet connection is down.

While the Home Internet Backup plan offers a reliable solution for those experiencing frequent internet outages, it may not be necessary for all users. Many people find switching to a phone hotspot during outages to be sufficient, especially with T-Mobile’s existing hotspot data offerings. However, for those requiring a more robust backup option, the $30 per month plan may be worth considering.

T-Mobile’s Home Internet Backup plan will be available for purchase starting June 6th.
