There’s tension in the air.
During the Super Bowl Halftime Show at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, Taylor Swift’s fans, known as the Swifties, expressed disappointment that Kendrick Lamar did not perform their hit song “Bad Blood.”
One fan tweeted, “You have countless swifties watching the Super Bowl and you couldn’t simply ask Taylor for the rights to your version of bad blood. Pathetic!”
Another fan expressed, “not me being so delusional i thought taylor swift might perform badblood with kendrick lamar 😭.”
One more fan chimed in, “Just really feel like Bad Blood would’ve brought a little razzle dazzle to the halftime show.”
Agreeing with the disappointment, another fan added, “Kendrick had the opportunity to do the most iconic thing & bring Taylor out for bad blood but he didn’t smh.”
Someone else wrote, “Kendrick Lamar totally missed out on the opportunity to break the internet and perform Bad Blood. Old mate failed the world.”
In September 2024, Apple Music and the NFL announced via Instagram that Lamar, 37, would be headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in February 2025 with a photo of the rapper sitting on a football field in front of an American flag background.
The “Luther” rapper also shared the news on social media with a video of himself tossing footballs on a field.
“My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl 59. Are you pulling up? I hope so … let’s get it … I wouldn’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans,” he wrote.
The halftime show by the “Power” actor took place amidst his highly publicized feud with Drake.
Throughout 2024, Lamar and Drake exchanged diss tracks, including “Family Matters” and “Euphoria.”
Lamar was declared the winner of the feud when he released the song “Not Like Us” in May.
In the song, he accused Drake of being a “pedophile” who liked underage girls. (Drake denied the claims.)
The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and its music video has garnered more than 216 million views on YouTube.
