Ferocious storms and torrential rain that hit France, Switzerland, and Italy over the weekend have tragically resulted in the loss of seven lives, as reported by local authorities on Sunday.

In the northeastern Aube region of France, three individuals in their 70s and 80s lost their lives on Saturday when their car was crushed by a tree during strong winds, with a fourth passenger currently in critical condition.

In Switzerland, four people have lost their lives, with one person still missing. Three of the fatalities occurred due to a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino in the southeast.

Additionally, a man was discovered deceased in a hotel in Saas-Grun in the southwest canton of Valais, with authorities suspecting that he was caught off guard by sudden flooding.

Another man is currently missing in Valais, as confirmed by the local police.

Civil security services have reported the evacuation of “several hundred” individuals in Valais, along with road closures following the overflow of the Rhone River and its tributaries in various areas.

Emergency services are working to safely evacuate 300 individuals who were present for a football tournament in Peccia, while nearly 70 more individuals are being relocated from a holiday camp in the village of Mogno.

In Italy’s Aosta Valley, social media users have been sharing images depicting the devastating floods and surging rivers cascading down mountain slopes.
