Star Wars Outlaws gangs will send hit squads after you if you upset them

The highly anticipated open-world action game Star Wars Outlaws is set to release next month, and developer Massive Entertainment has been showcasing some exciting gameplay features in various trailers. Recently, they have revealed more details about the player’s journey across the galaxy, including the vast size of the explorable planets and the consequences of angering powerful factions like the Hutts. It seems that in this game, your actions will have real consequences, with bounty hunters coming after you if you make enemies with the wrong people.

“Your reputation can unlock various benefits for you,” explains Mathias Karlson, the game director at Massive, in an interview with IGN. Building good relationships with factions like the Hutts, Pykes, Ashiga Clan, and Crimson Dawn can open up new opportunities for you, such as access to restricted areas or discounts with certain traders. On the other hand, if you make enemies, you may find yourself being hunted down by hit squads in the open world.

“If you find yourself in trouble and encounter a syndicate that you have a good reputation with, they may come to your aid,” Karlson adds, highlighting the dynamic nature of the gameplay.

The game’s reputation system seems to play a significant role in how players interact with different factions and navigate the dangerous world of Star Wars Outlaws. The developers also discuss the scale of the planets in the game, comparing them to multiple zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and emphasizing the vastness of the playable space.

“While it may only take five minutes to cross a planet on a speeder bike, the distractions and hidden secrets along the way make the journey feel much more significant,” says Julian Gerighty, the creative director at Massive.

With a focus on exploration and immersion, players can expect to encounter various easter eggs, scenic locations, and iconic landmarks from the Star Wars universe as they traverse the open world. The game offers a mix of linear storytelling and non-linear exploration, allowing players to choose their path and tackle different planets in any order they prefer.

Star Wars Outlaws promises to deliver a visually stunning experience, staying true to the unique aesthetic of the Star Wars universe. While the game may follow some familiar open-world tropes, the developers have added their own twist to the formula, creating a dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
