Star Air to launch 15 new routes by FY27 to serve 50 cities, ET TravelWorld

Bengaluru-based Star Air has announced a major fleet and network expansion, marking the induction of its 10th aircraft—an Embraer E175 jet. From 15 May 2025, the regional airline will begin operations on 15 new sectors, scaling up to over 50 daily services across 24 destinations.

The airline’s expansion strategy includes plans to induct four more Embraer E175 aircraft by March 2026 and grow its fleet to 25 aircraft by March 2027. These additions will support connectivity to more than 50 Indian cities, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 segments, underscoring Star Air’s commitment to bridging regional travel gaps.

“This expansion aligns perfectly with our vision of connecting Real India,” said Captain Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO of Star Air. “While the sector faces supply chain disruptions, Star Air’s stable financial backing and disciplined strategy give us an edge in scaling sustainably and meeting the rising aspirations of India’s next billion travellers.”

Star Air operates as the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, a diversified business house offering the airline financial resilience during periods of industry volatility. The airline is also the only regional carrier to have successfully operated all routes awarded under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) initiative since its launch, carrying over 1.5 million passengers through 300 weekly flights.

The airline’s summer schedule will expand to 350 weekly flights, and with the new route additions, Star Air is now looking beyond UDAN 5.0 to commercial city pairs, while remaining grounded in its founding philosophy of inclusive regional access.
