Star Air launches new routes to enhance regional connectivity under UDAN scheme, ET TravelWorld

In a bid to fuel the growth of India’s regional aviation industry and make air travel accessible for all, the Government of India launched the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme. Supporting this initiative, Star Air, the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, has announced new destinations – Jharsuguda and Raipur – which will connect Hyderabad and Lucknow, starting from 1st January 2025.

This expansion brings Star Air’s total destinations to 24 and marks a key milestone in the airline’s mission to improve regional connectivity, making air travel more accessible, convenient, and affordable.

Star Air is also taking steps to strengthen last-mile connectivity to tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The airline recently unveiled plans to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft over the next three years, further enhancing access to quality air travel in underserved areas. With a current fleet of 9 aircraft, including 4 Embraer E175s and 5 Embraer E145s, the airline is well-positioned for future growth and improved connectivity.
Capt. Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO of Star Air, commented, “The launch of new destinations connecting Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jharsuguda, and Raipur represents a significant step forward in Star Air’s mission to strengthen regional connectivity across India. These flights aim to provide passengers with greater convenience while contributing to the growth of trade, tourism, and economic opportunities in these regions.”This expansion is expected to boost the tourism and economic landscape in Jharsuguda, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Raipur, fostering cultural exchange and creating new opportunities for growth and sustainability.
