Square Enix if that Nier Reincarnation thing you're teasing isn't a port I won't be your friend any more

I, like many others, have been eagerly awaiting news of a new Nier game. However, Nier Reincarnation was released as Nier 3, but unfortunately, it was a free-to-play mobile game that shut down last year. As Nier celebrates its 15th anniversary, there have been no major announcements, but a new website has been slowly revealing snippets of a special novel. Interestingly, it seems to be hinting at something related to Nier Reincarnation.

Journalist Willa Rowe noticed something peculiar on the website. At the end of the latest chapter, there is a cryptic computer log that specifically mentions the official Japanese website for Nier Reincarnation. The wording leading up to the link to the website says “recovery protocol initialised.”

Further exploration of the website’s source code reveals references to characters from Reincarnation, known as Her and Him, as well as to The Cage, the main setting of the game. This mysterious discovery has fans, including myself, hoping for a potential re-release or port of Nier Reincarnation.

It would be fantastic if Square Enix could make this happen. I didn’t have the chance to experience the RPG’s main story in time, and watching cutscene compilations on YouTube is just not the same. Hopefully, we will receive some concrete news about a new Nier project soon. Maybe even a Nier Automata re-release with an equally complex title like Nier Replicant ver. 1.22 that adds new lore elements.
