Splitgate 2 is almost ready for you try it out, as the Portal with actual guns shooter sets a date for its open beta
It’s hard to comprehend why developer 1047 Games decided to pause work on Splitgate after its unexpected success to focus on creating a sequel. This move may be part of the confusion surrounding live service games, but it remains unusual. Despite this, Splitgate 2 is still scheduled for release in 2025, with the first open beta date now confirmed.
A teaser trailer released today announced that the FPS will have an open beta on May 22nd, featuring over 25 weapons, including the new Borealis energy carbine power weapon, 10 game modes like Takedown, and 15 maps, including 24-player Onslaught maps.

In a surprising revelation, the trailer hinted at “infinite” maps, suggesting the addition of a map editor feature. However, this could still mean a finite number of maps, despite the promise of ongoing content. More details on this feature are yet to be revealed.
There is no information available on how to sign up for the open beta at this time, so interested players will need to stay alert for updates.
