Spider-Punk lands in Marvel vs Capcom Infinite thanks to a giant mod with a revamped art style and new modes out this week

A highly anticipated fighting game mod is set to be released this weekend. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, which was criticized for its plastic figurine art style upon its initial release in 2017, is getting a major overhaul. A dedicated modder has been working on giving the game a visually appealing cel-shaded look, and the modding team has now expanded to 40 members. The mod will not only enhance the visuals but also introduce new moves, stages, costumes, and a 2v2 multiplayer tag team mode. The mod, titled “Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite And Beyond,” is scheduled to launch on Friday.

The trailer showcases the mod’s new features, including thick black outlines, halftone effects, and updated character designs like Venom with a baby blue symbiote and Spider-Man in a Spider-Punk costume. Additionally, new stages inspired by past series entries are also teased in the trailer.

The mod will be available for download on the team’s website starting December 20th. According to Maximillian Dood, a streamer who helped commission the mod, this project was a labor of love involving nearly 40 people working on it for 8 months.

The cel-shaded style of the mod draws inspiration from popular manga and anime aesthetics seen in games like Guilty Gear Strive, making it a fitting choice for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite.
