Space Marine 2 February update brings the Datavault & Tyranid Biovore
The upcoming Space Marine 2 update, Patch 6.0, is set to be released in February and has been teased with some exciting new features. These include a new PvP map called Datavault, the introduction of the Tyranid Biovore, and more.
Additionally, there is speculation that support for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 may continue beyond the current roadmap. While Season 3 is on the horizon for Winter 2025, Season 4 and Spring 2025 are still to come. The development team assures players, “Worry not, even if this roadmap ends in 2025, that doesn’t mean the game will not receive new content after that!”
Let’s take a closer look at what the 6.0 update has in store:
- New PvP Map – Tomb
- New PvE Enemy – Tyranid Biovore
- New Battle Barge Feature – Datavault
- Aboslute Difficulty
- Perks Rework
- FoV Slider for PC
- Season Pass Cosmetics – Salamander Champion
- Season Pass Cosmetics – Raven Guard Pack
Now, let’s delve deeper into these new additions.
The new PvP map, Tomb, is set in the eerie Necron tomb beneath the surface of Demerium. With narrow passages and blind spots, players will need to stay alert. However, there are also open areas for varied combat strategies.
In PvE, the Tyranid Biovore will now be a part of all Operations featuring Tyranids. This formidable enemy launches Spore Mines that players must evade and destroy before they detonate, posing a threat at close range as well.
The Datavault on the Battle Barge is a new area where players can uncover valuable information and cosmetic rewards. To access this content, players must earn special currency by completing in-game Ordeals achievements across all modes. These challenges may include tasks such as stunning a Carnifex, eliminating Spore Mines, or completing missions at specific threat levels in Operations.
In addition to these major updates, players can expect a perks rework, an FOV slider for PC users, a new Absolute difficulty level, and various other enhancements:
- New finishing animations for Zoanthropes, Scarab Occult Terminators, and Rubric Marines.
- A new feature that allows players to upgrade Master-Crafted and Artificer Armoury Data to Relic status through trading, as well as the ability to sell Armoury Data for Requisition Points.
- The Absolute Difficulty mode unlocks unique rewards, such as a bloodstained Knife Combat and a new pauldron, after completing an Operation in Lethal Difficulty.
- Base Decals can now be applied to Right Pauldrons.
- A new option to share skins between PvE and PvP modes, including sharing patterns across different classes.
- PvP Crossplay Toggle On/Off, enabling console players to choose whether to match with PC or console players specifically.
- New Emotes to enhance player interactions and camaraderie.
For Season Pass holders, the Salamanders Champion will be available for the Sniper class, while the Ravens Guard cosmetic pack will feature the iconic MK VI ‘Corvus’ helmet design, a beloved classic from Warhammer 40,000 lore.
