Soul Reaver remasters undo controversial change to statue
Exciting news for fans as Soul Reaver 1 and 2 are set to be remastered. However, a recent controversial change to the game upset some fans, specifically regarding the appearance of an in-game glyph statue that was altered to look less feminine.
The good news is that this change has been reversed, with the statue now resembling its original appearance from the classic games. Raina Audron, director of the remasters, confirmed this update, much to the relief of fans.
“The statue that caused concern among certain fans has been reworked,” a friend of Audron shared. “As with trailers, this was a work in progress and further improvements are still being made.” Here’s a look at the updated statue:
Although Raina doesn’t feature prominently in the video showcasing the remasters, she does make a special appearance at the end to address fans on her YouTube channel.
Prior to her work at Aspyr Media on the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection, Audron managed a fan website and YouTube channel dedicated to the Legacy of Kain series. Recently, she has been offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the Soul Reaver remasters.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is scheduled to release on December 10th for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5.
