In a recent statement, Sony announced the closure of Neon Koi and Firewalk Studios, confirming the permanent discontinuation of Concord with no plans for revival.

The announcement was made through an internal email to employees, with key highlights outlined below.

Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Studio Business Group shared important updates regarding the closure of Neon Koi and Firewalk Studios.

The decision to close Neon Koi and Firewalk Studios was made as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen SIE’s Studio Business, with Neon Koi’s mobile action game not progressing further.

Firewalk’s game, Concord, faced challenges with player engagement, leading to its permanent shutdown along with the closure of the studio.

Sony expressed gratitude to the teams at Neon Koi and Firewalk for their dedication and creativity.

Concord aimed to establish a new Sony IP in the hero-shooter genre but struggled with low player numbers, prompting its closure. Despite investments in the game, including animated content, Concord failed to gain traction and will not be revived.

Sony had high hopes for Concord, even securing a spot in Amazon’s gaming anthology series Secret Level.
