Sony has released its annual roundup of top downloads across its PlayStation platforms for 2024. Despite minimal changes compared to the first year of PSVR 2, the results are not entirely surprising.

PSVR 2 is approaching its second anniversary, and while some critics have noted a lack of exclusive titles and developer support compared to the original PSVR, dedicated fans of the headset would beg to differ.

PSVR 2 boasts impressive capabilities, allowing developers to achieve high render resolutions and visual complexity surpassing even Meta’s Quest 3. Additionally, the headset supports playing PC VR games, with Sony introducing a wired adapter in June last year. However, when it comes to the most popular downloads on the PlayStation Store, the numbers speak for themselves.

The popular game Beat Saber (2018) claimed the top spot in both North America and Europe, indicating its enduring appeal to new users.

Among the games released in 2024, Vertigo Games’ Metro Awakening and Urban Wolf Games’ Legendary Tales made the list, with the former having a limited time to climb the ranks following its November launch and the latter transitioning from Early Access on Steam to a full release in February 2024.

It’s worth noting that Vertigo Games’ Arizona Sunshine 2 (2023) had a brief window in December 2023 to garner downloads for the year.
