Sony issues DMCA takedown for Bloodborne 60 FPS fan patch

In a surprising turn of events, Sony has issued a DMCA takedown against one of the most popular Bloodborne fan-patches.
The patch, known as the Bloodborne 60 FPS patch, allowed players to experience the game at a smooth sixty frames per second, a significant improvement over the original thirty frames per second.
What makes this takedown unusual is that Sony had been aware of the patch for years and had seemingly tolerated its existence since its release in 2021.
The modder behind the patch, Lance McDonald, even had a meeting with former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida, who was reportedly amused and impressed by the patch.
Despite the patch requiring players to “jailbreak” their PS4 and take additional steps to access it, fans were generally impressed with the improved performance, making it the most popular fan patch for Bloodborne.
However, the patch is now no longer available as McDonald has complied with the DMCA takedown and removed all links to the patch from the internet.
Bloodborne was originally released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 in 2015, garnering a dedicated fan base over the years.
