Shinobi movie announced by Sega and Universal Pictures

Sega and Universal Pictures have announced they are collaborating on a new Shinobi movie adaptation, with Extraction franchise director Sam Hargrave at the helm.
Specifics about the new Shinobi movie are currently limited, and it remains unclear whether the film will be animated or live-action, considering Universal’s experience with both the animated Super Mario Bros. Movie and the live-action Five Nights at Freddy’s movie.
Ken Kobayashi (Sunny, Move On) is in charge of adapting the screenplay for Universal Pictures, with Marc Platt and Adam Siegel producing through Marc Platt Productions. Dmitri M. Johnson will also produce through Story Kitchen, Toru Nakahara will produce through Sega, and Mike Goldberg will serve as executive producer alongside Timothy I. Stevenson, who is co-producing.
Here is a brief overview of the Shinobi franchise, according to Sega:
The SHINOBI series made its debut in 1987 as an arcade game, following protagonist Joe Musashi, a modern-day ninja who battles great evil. Known for its epic and edgy action, the SHINOBI franchise consists of fourteen games, including spinoffs and ports, with over 5 million copies sold worldwide. A new installment in the series was announced in late 2023, with more details to come.
