Shapez 2 gets an Early Access release date and a new trailer to explain how it'll consume all your free time

When it comes to factory games, there’s a delicate balance between enjoyment and frustration. Shapez 2 is set to enter Early Access on August 15th, and I’m curious to see where it will fall on that spectrum.

Check out the Early Access announcement trailer:

In Shapez 2, players will be tasked with laying conveyor belts to transport items between machinery that manipulates shapes rather than traditional resources. This unique twist allows for endless possibilities in creating objects without set recipes. Instead, players will need to figure out how to combine basic actions like cutting shapes, changing colors, and rotating objects.

One standout feature is the freedom to place machinery anywhere and the availability of infinite resources. This sets Shapez 2 apart as more of a pure puzzle game, similar to Opus Magnum, rather than a resource management game like Factorio.

Although I didn’t play the original Shapez, the transition to 3D graphics in the sequel makes it more inviting. Shapez 2 will be available on Steam and is expected to remain in Early Access for approximately six months.
