Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and S25 Plus Got a Hidden Charging Upgrade

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones may have received a sneaky charging upgrade.

For several years now, there have been widespread complaints about Samsung’s flagship smartphone charging provision, which hasn’t seen significant changes in quite some time.

When the Galaxy S25 range was launched in January, there didn’t seem to be any changes to this. Both the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy S25 Plus still stick to a modest 45W wired charging standard.

However, Samsung may have quietly introduced a small but welcomed upgrade. While a charging brick is still not included in the box (which is not uncommon in 2025), Sammyguru claims that the included USB-C to USB-C cable is noticeably better than before.

How Galaxy S25 Ultra and S25 Plus charging has been improved

Both the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus came with 25W cables in the box, which meant they couldn’t deliver maximum charging speeds even with a fast plug.

With the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Plus, you now reportedly get a proper 15V/3A USB-C cable that can handle the full 45W charging. You just need to find a compatible charging source.

Despite this improvement, Samsung still lags behind many competitors in charging speed. For example, the OnePlus 13 supports 100W charging, but you need to provide the charging brick.

While slightly older, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra from last year came with a 90W HyperCharge adapter in the box, making it a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in terms of specifications.

Despite some setbacks, any progress from Samsung is significant, even if the Galaxy S25 Ultra had some drawbacks.
