Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Could Be Uniquely Tough

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone may exceed its reputation for being super thin and could actually be exceptionally durable in one aspect.
The current durability champion in the Samsung Galaxy S25 range is the Galaxy S25 Ultra, thanks to its Titanium frame. However, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge may introduce its own special material.
Here’s the scoop, along with some other fresh rumors about Samsung’s sleek new smartphone.
Galaxy S25 Edge could adopt ceramics
According to SamMobile, while the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will have a standard aluminum frame like the Galaxy S25, it will use ceramic for its rear cover for enhanced durability.
The exact composition of this ceramic material is not known. It could be a fully ceramic back or a glass-ceramic blend. Either way, it will set the Galaxy S25 Edge apart from the rest of the Samsung Galaxy S25 family, which all use tough Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back.
Rumored to be 5.84mm thin, the Galaxy S25 Edge was already expected to be slim and lightweight. The report also suggests that the switch to ceramic could further reduce its weight.
Samsung
Tough but leaky
While it may prove to be deceptively tough, the Galaxy S25 Edge is certainly not keeping its secrets. There has been a lot of chatter about Samsung’s ultra-slim smartphone in the lead-up to its official reveal.
Last week, news surfaced that the Galaxy S25 Edge had been benchmarked, yielding unexpectedly low scores given the anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite chip powering it.
Around the same time, well-known leaker Ice Universe hinted that the Edge display size would be similar to the Galaxy S25+. The leaker shared an image of what they claimed was the protective film for the Galaxy S25 Edge, and it does indeed resemble the S25+. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S25+ boasts a 6.7-inch AMOLED display.
We can expect to learn more about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge at MWC 2025, scheduled for the first week of March.
