Samsung Could Launch Tri-fold Foldable Alongside Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung is gearing up to unveil a triple threat with its upcoming foldable phone launch, as per the latest reports.
According to South Korean outlet ETNews, the company is set to showcase a third foldable device alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in July.
Following the ‘rule of three’ theme, this third foldable device will reportedly be a tri-fold device in direct response to the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate.
What do we know about Samsung’s tri-fold?
Samsung has showcased several tri-fold prototypes over the years, with a preference for the ‘G-fold’ method of folding a large tablet-like display down into a smartphone format.
The design of Samsung’s tri-fold device will involve folding in on itself to protect the internal display, unlike the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate which has a concertina-like system leaving a portion of the display exposed.
This design will require Samsung to include a second smaller, more traditionally proportioned display on the outside, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold series.
Industry officials cite that Samsung will begin mass production of the tri-fold foldable in April, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be a skinny alternative
The introduction of a super-sized Galaxy Z tri-fold would position the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 as the more portable option in Samsung’s foldable lineup.
Rumors suggest that Samsung might make the Galaxy Z Fold 7 significantly slimmer than its predecessor.
Leaker OnLeaks has unveiled high-quality renders of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, highlighting a major change in thickness compared to the Fold 6.
According to the renders, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be just 4.5mm thick when open, a notable reduction from the Fold 6’s 5.6mm thickness.
Furthermore, when closed, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will measure 9.5mm thick, positioning it close to the thinness of non-foldable phones.

Bigger screens all round
Based on leaked specs used for the CAD renders, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature larger displays.
The internal display will be increased to 8.2 inches, up from the 7.6-inch display on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The external display will also see an upgrade to a 6.5-inch unit from the 6.3-inch Fold 6.
With a footprint of 158.4 x 143.1mm (compared to the 153.5 x 132.6mm Fold 6), Samsung seems to be widening its screens, particularly beneficial for the smaller external display to function more like a regular phone.
